Justin's interest lies in the notion of displacement and transition between spaces and territories that separate ideas of origins. His current practice stems partly from the perceptual and subtly evolves beyond process and creation. He seeks to investigate the intrinsic relationship a painting has to space as it evokes numerous transformative possibilities.
The play between multiple facets of the painting includes the architecture and surface of the painting's transitory state. The elusive quality of textures and forms not only acts as layers and gestures but a seemingly displaced sense of tension against the skeleton of the frame itself – resulting in a liminal state.
